At the University of York, I audited a 3D modelling course where we practiced creating our own models of landscapes and objects using scales, images, video, etc. on 3Ds Max. Previous to this experience, I used SPIERS to render and edit 3D models of skulls for 3D printing. Since you require object modeling, I will have no problem creating your furniture in the right measurements, proportion and texture as required for your project.
