I am working on a project to be able to demodulate satellite radio using GNU Radio. The goal is to figure out what modulation is being used. It's not traditional DVB, but a hybrid of QPSK and OFDM modulation. The width of the carrier is 12.5Mhz. You need to show that you have experience doing GNU radio demodulations to win this project. I am not able to figure out how to do it myself so this is why I am posting the project. The carrier has each two-carrier group broadcast 100 8-kilobit-per-second streams in approximately 4 MHz of radio spectrum. These streams were combined using a patented process to form a variable number of channels using a variety of bitrates. Bandwidth is separated into segments of 4-kilobit-per-second virtual "streams" which are combined to form audio and data "channels" of varying bitrates from 4 to 64 kilobits-per-second. The output of this signal should be as an IP UDP stream. It is assumed that the signal even though its not DVB, still uses TS or transport stream as its container which means there is basic TS structure of the stream output. This can be validate with free software called TSReader. The demodulator must be able to run full time without any errors. Once the demodulator is validate working, then making the modulator would be the next step. The main goal is to record the TS and then re-transmit the TS. I have already done RF record and RF re-transmit, but the goal now is to demodulate and then understand the packet structure so that we can create another stream to re-transmit. The source signal is encrypted but we don't need to worry about that. We are not decrypting. We just want to re-transmit on the same frequency with the same structure so that the radio can decode it. You will be required to show all working code and replicate it on my setup. I will not release any funds until you supply working code and we have a valid signal being demodulated. Then the final step is to replicate the modulation portion once we have the demodulation working. I can provide the remote working environment or I can make a recording of the RF and then you can use it on your side. Ideally using a hackrf or any SDR that is can do both RX and TX. I have various radios that can be used. Please do NOT bid on this project unless you have significant experience working with GNU Radio and SDR.
