SSL Error needs fixing

We have a store that today started receiving an SSL error when accessing the shopping cart. Customers are unable to order from the store. You can access the site, but when clicking on a secure link, an error "The webpage has a redirect loop" comes up in CHROME and standard Page cannot be displayed in IE. We require assistance to be able to troubleshoot and fix, rather quickly. This error appeared last week on another site and I was able to turn SSL off. With this current site, because it is eCommerce, we cannot do so. Looking for assistance with both sites please.
