We have a simple utility application written in VB which needs to parse through mail files on a users computer and extract all e-mail addresses from the mailbox files. We currently have this working for Netscape, Eudora, and early versions of Outlook Express. The newer formats of Outlook/Express are in an encypted format and we don't have the time to decipher these. We are interested in outsourcing this component to an independent devloper who has experience with these formats.
The developer can either provide a Visual Basic function or an OCX written in VB or C++. The function (or ocx) will be passed a file name corresponding to an Outlook/Express mailbox file and it needs to open this file and retrieve a list of all e-mail addresses found in the e-mail headers. The e-mail addresses need to be parsed only from the header section of each e-mail , any addresses contained in the message body should be ignored. Inside the message header for each e-mail, the function needs to retrieve the from, reply-to, and return-path addresses.
The function or ocx must be able to operate on all current versions of Outlook or Outlook Express mailbox file formats.
Since we will be utilizing this code in a larger application, we do not need a polished application, just the VB source code or an OCX. If there are existing products or utilities available to do this, I don't care if you simply find them and provide them to us under a finders fee so long as we can use and distribute them in a royalty free manner. If you provide us with an existing product in this manner, it must meet the functionality listed above and must be able to be used in our application via source code or as an ocx.
