Online Marking and Tracking System for Student Logbooks and Competency Skills

Project Description: We are seeking innovative solutions to digitize and streamline our current system for student logbook marking and competency skills tracking. Currently, students are required to record 20 practical sessions in a logbook which their teacher then marks. Alongside this, we also need to track students' Practical Competency skills, which teachers mark as either competent or not. We would like this entire process to be brought online. Our course is currently hosted on Moodle, so solutions that can integrate into this platform would be preferable. Still, we are also open to standalone systems or third-party tools that can meet our requirements. Functional Requirements: User Authentication: Different roles need to be defined for students, teachers, and course admins. Students should only be able to access their own logbooks while teachers should have access to the logbooks of all students they teach. Logbook Entries: Students need to be able to create and edit logbook entries for each practical session. Each entry should include the date and a description of the work completed. Session Marking: Teachers need to be able to mark each session as complete/incomplete within the system. Competency Skills Tracking: Teachers need to be able to mark each skill as competent/incompetent. Ideally, This functionality should be available in the same place as the session marking. Topics Discussion Tracking: Teachers need to be able to mark each topic for discussion as discussed/not discussed. Ideally, This functionality should be available in the same place as the session marking. Admin Overview: Course admins should be able to view all student work and access the marks. We are open to your innovative ideas and look forward to exploring the possibilities. The chosen solution should prioritize ease-of-use for students and teachers and scalability for a growing student body. Technical Requirements: If a Moodle-integrated solution is proposed, experience with Moodle APIs or plugin development would be beneficial. If a standalone system is proposed, the system must support secure user authentication and data storage. Experience with LTI (Learning Tools Interoperability) would benefit Moodle integration. If a third-party tool is proposed, the solution must ensure data privacy and integrate well with our current workflow. Please share your ideas, along with a high-level overview of your proposed solution, your technical approach, the estimated timeline for implementation, and any additional resources you might require.
