Hi there I've previously worked with HC-05 Bluetooth & ESP8266 WiFi Modules & integrated them with Android apps. If the module is constantly paired with another device I can build an app to await messages over RFCOMM profile & give notifications or else you can even replace the BT module with WiFI for longer ranges.
