LIGHTING CREW for "Struwwelpeter" (Shock-Headed Peter), a short horror STUDENT FILM based on the iconic "Der Struwwelpeter"(Shockheaded Peter), an 1845 German children's book by Heinrich Hoffmann.
Synopsis: This short horror-comedy film tells the story of a large family of misbehavers living together in their old Victorian house, meeting their gruesomely karmic fates one-by-one in an episodic fashion. For an example, take Fred, a serial animal abuser and young murderer who is bit by a dog; while Fred is bedbound, the dog returns to finish its work. Or the sorry tale of Conrad, who loses both thumbs and his life to the Scissorman for sucking his thumbs. Or Johnny, slain by the creature living in the pond near the house for the simple crime of looking up from his feet while he walks. Or the patriarch of the family, hunted through the halls of his house by a rifle-wielding pink rabbit...
Production states: "With the goal of eventual submission to the Screamfest ([login to view URL]) festival in October 2023, this is a lighthearted, low-budget foray into film-making by an amateur student of the genre. Considering that most of the budget is devoted to period-appropriate costumes, to take advantage of the rest of it, we will use a beautiful set, attachable lenses, and a wheelchair-rig to (hopefully) excellent results. Shadows also play a large role in replacing or at least supplementing more expensive elements (for instance, CGI or mechanical elements for the Sackman, a child-eating giant).
Content Warning: Children dying violently (mostly offscreen, though the results are shown) via fire, drowning, silverware, dogs, being eaten alive, etc. Physical and emotional abuse to humans and other animals (bullying, nonphysical parental abuse, torture, murder). Clothing sizes are requested for those interested.
