I have a series of 15 digit numbers which are generated from a base algorithm.
For examples, 471103007127719 is broken down by {Prefix}{Sequence}{Master}{Check Digit}
471103007127719
Prefix = a static 5 digit number {47110}
Sequence = a 5 digit number. This is the number that this project will need to predict {30071}
Master = a static 5 digit number {2771}
Check Digit = a 1 digit number calculated from the other numbers
The Sequence number can increment from 1-99999. When I validate the number in my system only SOME of the full 15 digits are valid. It seems that an initial Sequence (ex: 00005) validates. After that there is a gap of ~ 15-25 before another one is successful. For example. The first code in a set is 18.
Then it follows like this:
18,35,51,68,85,101,125,142,159,175,192,209,225,242,266
The difference from one number to the next is
17,17,16,17,17,16,24,17,17,16,17,17,16,17,24
Here is example of testing sequence numbers between 1-50, with only 3 valid 15 digit codes:
47172-00002-2771-2
47172-00018-2771-3
47172-00035-2771-0
This project will require someone to identify the algorithm used to determine the successful sequence.
I will provide:
- the check digit logic (last digit)
- Sample valid codes from a sequence (I have thousands of codes that can be used as a sample set)
Dear sir.
Your project attracted my attention at first glance, because I've extensive experience in Math Programming.
I'm really confident about your project, and very eager to join your project.
If we have a chance to cooperate, I'll do my best to provide wonderful result.
Looking forward to your response.
Best Regards.
Dear employer,
Hi
I love math problems and playing with digits. Please read the reviews of other employers on my profile.
I have done my M.Sc. thesis using Python and MATLAB. It was about developing a numerical model for simulating fluids flow through porous media. I developed the main code in Python and developed my analyzer tools in MATLAB. I learned lots of tricks in programming with these two great languages.
I also had 2 big contracts. One of them was a contract with an educational institute and was about developing an Excel program for managing the participants of their workshops. I developed this program with Exel VBA. The other contract was about developing a numerical model for the search and rescue operation in the sea which I developed with C++. I have about 5 years of work experience in computer programming using different languages.
It would be a great chance for me if we could collaborate with each other as I am an engineer who loves computer programming. My rating is a little low because one of my employers was a dealer and he did not want me to improve my business on this website. But honestly, I have some rules for my working life and their most important are: Be ON TIME, RESPONSIBLE, and RESPECTFUL. You can read the reviews of other employers on my profile. I am always here to answer your questions even after the project completion. It would be highly appreciated if you could send me a message so we can discuss more.
Regards,
Amir
Hi,
I am passionate about algorithms and puzzles and would like to discuss your problem further.
The problem here appears to be a challenge to my intellectual curiosity and I would like to take a stab at it.
I am planning to work on this today.
If I am unable to break this puzzle I wont charge you.
Please let me know if we can discuss this in detail.
Regards,
Sarmistha
Hi, I could try to help you, but I would need more info. Based on what you provided i guess the first check digits are:
2,3,0,1,3,0,1,...
Is that right? I am not sure if this helps to solve the actual problem, but maybe it can give a clue. Could you have a chat to see if I can help or not?
Hello,
It might be possible to guess the algorithm. It might not be possible to guess the next number from only one number. Some algorithms create next pseudo random number based on several previous numbers. Before I accept doing the task I need to see longer valid sequences, like a series of 100 numbers
Best regards,
Ivan
I just finished my master thesis last week, with 4.0/A, on using AI to make a 6-legged robot to walk. The setup of the problem here is similar and interesting, like solving a puzzle. I would be interested to continue this further and try solve the puzzle.
