We need someone to help develop a small application/script that makes detaching, copying, pasting and re-attaching SQL databases simpler. The idea is to simplify updating SQL databases across different computers that are not on the same network. 1. Currently, our clients need to manually open Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2/SQL Server Managment Studio as administrator. 2. Then connect to a database. 3. Then right-click on CxMaterials_11 and select Tasks - Detach - Drop (See image 1 & 2) 4. Then right-click on CxSystemData_11 and select Tasks - Detach - Drop 5. Then Select File/Save All 6. Then copy the database folder (normally found on C:\Planit\Solid_11\Database or C:\Cabinet Vision\Solid_11\Database 7. Then move the database to a new location (shared folder or USB) 8. Then re-attach CxMaterials_11 & CxSystemData_11 (see image 4) 9. Then repeat this process on computer B by detaching the current database, renaming it using a time and date stamp, and replacing it with the database folder from step 6. Then re-attaching this new database in SQL. 10. The final thing we need is to automate exporting some registry files from computer A and importing them on computer B (see image 5) This would be best as a purpose-built application with a simple user interface. Must run on Windows operating system. I am open to this running as a script for a syncing application that can already automate the copy, transfer, paste functions such as [login to view URL]

Hello Sir, Wow, very complex steps for moving the data for 2 databases. I have an idea for you. Why we don't make it with the synchronization for database. With Microsoft Sync Framework 2.1 ? One thing we must be sure that 2 database can be on the same LAN or VPN which is allowed communication both side. Let's give me more chance for discuss with you about the step and let's me completed the works.

I have developed backup and restore function directly from software to Microsoft SQL server database on all most of the software I develop for my clients. Also, we can go for synchronizing database by keeping one central database and other will take a copy of it. If want manual import solution we can use backup restore functionality and for automated, we can use database synchronization. Hi! You provided detailed information how the application should work. Few questions: 1. The users should be able to choose connection/database name? 2. Do you want to use application on one PC to connect to another or every PC would run this app? 3. Registry automation, do you want to copy exported registry by hand to another pc? Points 2 and 3 would not be a problem if the computers are in the same network.
