Bookkeeper

Location: Lynchburg, VA Job Type: Part-time Remote Local Job Summary: The Bookkeeper will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and supporting the overall financial health of the organization. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of accounting principles. Responsibilities: Accounts Payable and Receivable: Record and manage invoices, bills, and payments. Reconcile accounts payable and receivable statements regularly. General Ledger Maintenance: Maintain and update the general ledger with accurate financial transactions. Ensure proper coding and categorization of expenses and income. Bank Reconciliation: Reconcile monthly bank statements and address any discrepancies. Monitor and manage petty cash transactions. Financial Reporting: Generate and analyze financial reports, such as income statements and balance sheets. Prepare and present financial reports to management as needed. Tax Compliance: Assist in preparing documentation for audits and ensure compliance with relevant tax regulations. Collaborate with external accountants to facilitate the preparation of tax returns. Payroll Processing: Process payroll accurately and in a timely manner. Ensure compliance with payroll tax regulations. Financial Analysis: Assist in analyzing financial data and trends to provide insights for strategic decision making. Collaborate with management to develop and manage budgets. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar role. Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and Microsoft Excel. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
