Based on your research interest and background, you will have to select a general application area such as power system, power electronics, chemical process, etc. You will have to model and control a practical system, within the specified application area. In the end you will have to write a report consisting of the following sections: 1-- Significance of the considered system in industry and engineering 2-­‐ Literature review on previous works on control of the considered system (at least 10 recent papers should be considered here) 3-­‐ Detail Mathematical Model of the system and the corresponding reduced model (if any) 4-­‐ Detail of the control objective and control methodologies used for the considered system. At least two different control techniques should be considered. All the theoretical aspects of the control techniques should be clearly presented. 5-­‐ Simulation and comparison study of the developed control techniques 6-­‐ Conclusion and potential future works You will be asked to answer the following questions when submitting a proposal: 1. What general application area do you intend to select? 2. What practical system are you planning to model and control? 3. Can you send me 5 academic papers related to the modeling and control of the system you intend to work on? 4. How many hour will you require to complete the task? 5. Do you have a sound understanding about the functioning of control systems? 6. Are you proficient in using Matlab?
