I am running a Joomla website with Gantry framework, cometchat and Jomsocial. These parts load many javascripts and css files and some browsers load the site "ok" (Safari and FF) but other browsers seem to crash after a while (IE and chrome and sometimes FF).. I disabled many plugins etc so the crash does not happen that frequent but the site is VERY slow with certain browsers (e.g. IE).
