Audit of a partially completed website

A web designer whom I have hired to put together a simple website for a freelance translation business has abandoned the half-completed job. I have no knowledge of web design and need answers to technical questions about the site's technical set-up so that I scope the job of completing the site by another web designer. The site has not been officially launched. However, I believe it is publically accessible.

Outstanding tasks on the site that were not completed by the current designer are:

• duplicate the existing seven English pages so that I can populate them with contents in another language (in Wordpress)

• a few minor modifications to the css file according to my requirements

• forwarding of incoming email to my outlook account and a webmail interface

• redirection of [url removed, login to view] (also owned by me) to [url removed, login to view]

You need web design expertise and a css editor.

Facts known to me:

• Organisation that hosts the site (not the designer), which I will provide

• Contents management by Wordpress; I have a valid password for that, which I will provide

• The current web designer's business URL, which I will provide

My questions:

• What is required to give the job of completing the site to someone else without the cooperation of the current designer?

• What is required to modify the css file (further passwords, etc.)?

• Is there any hosting, routing etc. done through the current web designer's business and if so can this be taken away from them and how?
