Hello,
We need to create an excel file that allow us to generate a list of tags to be printed on adhesive paper (attached a picture of the output).
This is the context to understand the work:
a) We manufacture clothes/garments to companies. Imagine a company with 100 workers in two categories, each using different clothes and of course different sizes.
b) To keep track of things, we paste in the box/cover of each garment a tag with the size of that especific garment and a code of the project.
c) Basically, what we do today is, we have a template in word (as per the image attached) and we start copypasting (control-c control-v) all the sizes that we have to ship.
d) This is a manual process and we want to automate it.
e) The way to automate it is to create an excel file with two tabs. The first tab would be inputs, and the second tab would be the output.
f) The input tab would have a list with two columns as shown in the picture. In grey is what the user would write. The list of sizes (i.e., number of rows) can be variable, (from 1 to lets say 100 items). And the name itself also can be any number.
g) The output would be that a macro or whatever, converts that to the tag template (either a template created in another tab, or even a word template). The structure is as shown in TagTemplate: The large text/number is the size, and the small text is the project (also defined in the input tab).
e) Complications here (and the reason why I do not know how to do it) is because the number of sizes can be variable, the number of tags to be created for each tag is variable also, so somehow the macro needs to perform the following:
- Take the first size, count if the number of tags in the output tab is below the number of tags specified for each size, if not, create another tag (in sequence, hence it needs to go cell by cell, to see whether it is completed and move to the following).
- Once the number of tags for a size has reached the level defined, proceed with the following size.
- Do that until you have reach the end of the list on page Input.
