Design a Logo for an Online Directory

We are working on a project for our company that will be a total guide to the sights, hotels, restaurants, and companies and things to do in Okinawa, Japan. It's a high tourist area. The official name we are going by is:

OkiSeek (basically we have a few other names that will be related, but this will be our main logo). (www.okiseek.com will be the future website)

Okinawa is a very tropical destination and you should look at photos and images as the fonts should be lots of fun and very colorful (but not TOO colorful). We aren't trying to use the rainbow... but a step above pastel would be nice. Comforting colors in the pallet as it should be demographically neutral (men and women).

The idea is simplicity, so we need images to go with the logo type that carry out the concept of "searching" and "looking". Again this is a directory, so, the idea would be that people will use the directory to find whatever they are looking for. The obvious images are a magnifying glass, pair of shoes, etc... something along the lines of a detective or an iconic image that we can potentially brand out would be a great way to go.

Some of the things that stand out (and you should look up: Shisa (guardian dogs like gargoyles); sea turtles; the okinawa default identifiers, etc).

The problem with Shisa is that they should be in a pair one mouth open / one closed --- and it takes up a lot of space. But just giving ideas for you to explore.

We are trying to set this apart from the rest of Japan, so please don't use too much typical Japanese imagery and PLEASE DO NOT USE fonts that are horrible examples of Japan. Those type faces that are bamboo and stuff like that are just awful. It would be better to use a font that has flare.
