Regarding the functionality, it is our goal as architects to listen to your wishes/desires and make the space according to those. We may suggest some things to improve upon your ideas or suggest alternatives if we have bed experience with similar ideas in the past. As for the furniture, usually we suggest furniture, style, color, material etc. and client search and pick exact or similar furniture to the one we suggested.
