Our client builds mobile kitchens (trailers and trucks). We are installing a Bill of Materials system that handles shop floor tracking and billing. We need...
a) Select a tool (Sketchup?) that allows placement of objects and provides both a 2D and 3D view.
b) Designer that will create the objects to represent the equipment to be use on the job.
c) Ability to import and/or export the Bill of Materials into and out of the CAD program. We'd like the BOM system to provide a CSV (or equivalent) list of materials for the project and the CAD system will use an identifier (e.g. SKU) to match up and select the shapes for the project. The user will then arrange the objects.

I do this using Revit with a tool called Design Options. I can make several configurations to chose from and the materials list automatically updates & can export CSV.
