Also the power system will be compact but connected to mains supply to ensure constant power. Arduino nano will be best for size issues. Actually, I am not bidding to do this project. It would be fun, but i already have too many projects. The reason I am writing is that I wanted to make some suggestions. For communications between boxes, consider using the NRF24L01 radio that attaches easily to an Arduino. You can get two versions, and the short range version will probably work fine for you, but the long-range version with a 1.1KM range will certainly fill the bill. You can eliminate the complicated BLE stack and stuff. These are cheap radios, all you need is an encrypted checksum to prevent meddling. I would make one box the master timekeeper, and then you could have any number of slave boxes sending messages if their buttons got pressed and displaying the time from the master box. Piece of cake. You will need to anchor down the boxes to prevent them from being "claimed" and carried around to prevent the other team from getting at them. Good luck, this sounds like a fun project. :)

How many boxex do you like? In fact, using uart-to-bluetooth converter can allow to use more then 2 boxes. Secondly, describe power supply specs for it, is it battery-powered? Also, describe behavior of boxes in faul condition, for example, if one of them fail? What kind of indicator you prefare, may be large 7-segment LED? Do you like PCB, or design would be wire-mounted?

Hi, I believe I can help you design this box for what you need. For what i'm thinking, all it would take is a Bluetooth module, Arduino uno or nano, an lcd screen, clock module or timer IC's, some buttons, and maybe some LED's to make it look nice. I believe it can all be done for a budget of under $100. I have plenty of Arduino coding and circuit building experience in my portfolio to prove I am qualified for the job and I also possess most of the required parts that I can test a prototype myself.
