Publicity for direct-to-DVD franchise

I am beginning a franchise for children and general audiences that includes a series of direct-to-DVD movies. I make these movies myself with a 3D animation program that is the best available I know of, as I cannot afford to hire a professional animator. I have completed one full movie so far and I sell the DVDs of it via my own website as I manufacture them myself and ship them from my own home. I have done some advertising on Facebook and Twitter and have shipped copies to the people I've worked on the film with, and also my close friends and supporters. The movie has so far been very well received by them and also people they know as the star of my movie has reported his premier party for it he had was a big success among his friends. I've also received a handful of positive reviews that I've posted at my website. Still, I know little about marketing at this point and it is very important to me that my movie series receive the proper publicity it deserves as early as possible. And for this and other reasons I want to have sales start to come in for the first movie, if only through my website. For deep personal reasons I feel I shouldn't release to Amazon if I can help it. But my movie is still a magnum opus and well worthy of the respect and admiration of children, families, and educators everywhere. I will be most grateful to anyone with the best expertise in marketing, publicity, advertising, and sales promotions for direct-t-DVD childrens films for entertainment and educational purposes.
