Hi, I am an experienced AWS Sysops Engineer. I can help you to configure the website and server securely in AWS. Usually I will add the following layers of security for servers. 1) Inside the server I will add CSF firewall, security hardening, dos_deflate and modsecuirty 2) For each instance I will add security groups 3) For the subnet I will configure Network ACL to filter unwanted traffic 4) Also in AWS I will add WAF firewall rules to filter unwanted traffic and protect the server from DDOS attack. This is typically a NAT'd virtual system and can cause headaches in day to day operations, I would suggest a non NAT'd solution. In regards to your Layer 7 ddos, this can be typically managed by a system called ddos deflate or the likes, a layer 7 attack normally happens by exhausting systems http connections or bandwidth with legitimate traffic, to prevent this we can employ systems like Cloudflare to filter such traffic and ddos deflate can also be used, this can be configured to automatically add ip's to the systems firewall once a threshold has been breached stopping the attack from that ip in it's tracks. Combined with a firewall called Configserv Firewall you can have this generate automated reports that you can a) review yourself and send them onto the IP owner or b) auto forward them on (the firewall auto query's a database for IP owner abuse details) I can help with all the above plus: Install and configure Centos 7 Install and configure cPanel Harden both OS and cPanel Configure Apache for security and stability. other configurations as required.
