We have an existing social network website all setup and running properly using the Wordpress Mu & BuddyPress 1.2 platform. The website is queeri.com.
We are looking for a coder who can customize the functionality of the website.
We are looking for the coder to:
- Build an events calendar system (for members and groups to create events)
- Customize the look of the homepage to display recent and "spotlighted" events, news, and forum posts in a particular arrangement, show a sitewide activity feed (like facebook).
- Convert the "BLOG" functionality to "NEWS" where members of the website can submit news stories using the blog post functionality already built into the website and posts will display as news stories.
- Create a feature where we (the admin) can mark submitted events as "spotlight" so that they display in a separate section on the homepage as spotlight events.
- Edit the look of the website to match that of the image attached to this bid post.
The website must be running functional without breaks or errors when you are finished.
You don't need to make structural changes to the word "blog". We just want all areas of the website that normally say "blog" to say "news" instead. I don't really see anywhere on the site where this is showing up anyways other than the Blog tab.?
In the backend of our website, as an admin I can control whether everyone has their own "blog" or whether just the admin has a blog. This is controlled by setting what the default user type is when someone signs up on the website (for example "moderator", "subscriber", "contributor", "member", etc.). Each user type is its own level of restrictions. What I want to do is make everyone who signs up on the website a "contributor" of my blog. I want the website to be customized in a way where my blog posts simply display as "news posts" and I want members of my website to be able to submit "blog posts" only they will be called "news posts". Basically I want a news section and I want to make it possible for members of the website to submit news. Structurally you will just have them submit a blog post and the posts will feed right into the "News" page. I don't want posts to post automatically. Every post should be "pending" in the backend admin area for my approval before they are displayed live on the website.
Please take a look at the existing [url removed, login to view] website and then look at the attached image we uploaded to this bid request. You will see a difference in appearance and some visual additions added. We did this image in photoshop so we could supply you with a visual as to what functionality and look we want [url removed, login to view] to have.?
I'm going to explain the changes/additions that you can see in the image that I'd like you to make to the [url removed, login to view] website:
1.) I moved widgets to left side of the homepage. I'd like this to stay on the left side for the entire website.
2.)The center of the homepage should feature the closest events to the time of viewing the page. At the top are the spotlight events. These are just events that are featured with more information right on the homepage. I'd like you to add a simple check button I can press that will make an event spotlighted or regular from the backend area. Also make the spotlighted events randomly display on homepage in any order. So if there are 12 spotlighted events in the backend and only 5 display spots on homepage, than everytime you refresh the homepage 5 spotlighted events should randomly be selected and displayed.
3.)Below the spotlighted events are the Current Events. These are ALL the events submitted (any member should be able to submit an event and it should automatically go live and display on the website. No approval should be needed like with news feature). Current Events section will list a set number of the soonest events happening (say 20 events). The title of the event should click through to a detailed page that gives all the details about the event. At the bottom of the page should be a link to click through to "View All Events".
4.) The calendar on the left side is for the Current Events. If you click on any day the page should load the events for that day on the page (like a search). It would be really nice if you could use ajax to load the search results without the page reloading or directing somewhere else, but if that is way too much work for the scope of this project, than just have it go to a search results page that displays the events down the center.
5.) Recent News is a section that displays the most current "blog posts" submitted by members of the website. I'm designating blog posts as news stories so every member should be able to submit a post but I have to approve it before it goes live. The titles of the posts should click through to the full post. If you click on "more news..." that should go to the blog main page (which should say "News") and display all recent posts.
6.) Forum Posts should display the most recent replies to forum topics. The name of the person is next to their avatar picture. This name should be clickable to their profile. Also, the name of the post they replied to should also be clickable to the post. the "view post" link should also go directly to the post as well. The "Start Topic" button should enable them to go to the page where they can start a new forum topic.
7.) Please remove "My Blogs" from the top toolbar.
8.) Please shorten the height of the blue header area.
