Also some indication of price and time budget is necessary very early in your communications. ### For an customer that has a Zencart shopping cart, we want to develop a stand-alone web application to sell a particular product that has a lot of options. The product involves personalised jewellery. We want someone to be able to design their own jewellery, and save variations that they like (will require creating a user id). The tricky portion is that the customers will be imprinted, and we want the customer to be able to lay out the design as they like it. We then want them to be able to order that item (probably through the existing zencart, but not necessarily so), save it so they can come back to it later (allowing maybe 20 items per login), or send the link with or without purchase information to a friend.

## Deliverables

For the personalisation component, we are envisioning something where the user sees how they are typing fits on the piece in live-time. For example, say we have a square charm. If the user decides on a straight line imprint horizontally centre justified, and vertically bottom justified (which we might have said has a twelve character maximum for the font chosen), then she would see an approximation of how it would look as she typed according to her chosen placement: S . . . SA . . . SAM . . .SAMM . . . SAMMI. For this web application all letters will appear monospaced (each with identical width). After that she might choose chain or cord style, then accessories, finishes, etc. All up there will be up to six levels of customisation all with varying numbers of options. As with the personalisation portion, we want to be able to see the work in progress, but in this case after each selection is made. Each style will come with a default configuration to make it easier for the customer, but then they can upgrade or downgrade as they go through the process. Some options will impact price, others will not. To spell it out a bit further, here is an estimate of the general options that might be available. 2 fonts 12 pendants (the combination of these will determine max. characters) 30 chain styles-lengths 20 dangles 3 treatments At least the third and fourth items will allow for a client notes that will not impact price (example: client choose espresso brown deerhide 18 inch "chain" but then notes, "I would prefer this in a 36" length"). Price will remain the same, but customer will be advised when selecting this further customisation that it could later impact price. Some additional features required: forwarded to list (not displayed to recipients, only to creator and site owner), order comments, and notepad for creator about their designs. When client forwards a link we will gather recipient name, and recipient e-mail address. We will need to store this along with a message field, and item sent. Clients will be able to resend an item with no changes, but items will not be editable after they have been sent (although they can be used as starter templates). If the client takes an existing piece and modifies it, she will be asked if she want to re-send the modifications to her "sent to" list. Happy to answer any further questions you have.
