Develop Elegant MVC/C# Drag and Drop Interface

We need an elegant drag and drop solution. Elegant means it needs to be fully designed and easy to skin/design. It also must integrate into existing bootstrap style MVC project.
Type text into TextArea. Press 'Enter' to add item to list. May also click button to add item to list. Each item is added to item table.
Item list is built as a series/list of draggable objects. Between sessions, item list contains unassigned items.
Also on screen is an area containing a list of Groups and another list of People that are easily identifiable and act as drop targets.
User can drag and drop items to Groups or to People to assign the item to the Groups or People. This should create records in join tables.
User can also drag an item to trash to delete it, or put it on a shelf to access it later. User can view all items on the shelf and assign or delete those.
User can access settings for each drop target (Groups or People). Just need to be able to popup a menu containing options.

Also see screenshot below (we want rectangles instead of circles but it would like to be able to determine the shape, including rectangles with rounded corners).
In order for us to select you, we need to hear your specific experience or ideas concerning the drag and drop interface. The drag and drop interface, tied to data, is what we are wanting from this. MVC/C# developers aren't necessarily good user interface designers, so you must distinguish yourself.
