I want to hire a writer to come up with ideas for my clients' social media accounts.
** The successful candidate will be a native English speaker, familiar with the culture (and pop culture) of the US, Canda, the UK, Australia or New Zealand.
At this early stage, I am thinking I would need only a few hours of work each week. As the business grows, the time commitment would grow, too.
An example of our work is here: [url removed, login to view]
The work would be coming up with ideas and concepts for Instagram posts.
That is, it would entail thinking up an image and any possible text that it would display.
This is the main and most important part of the job.
I would provide you with all the client information – name, brand identity, relevant characteristics, marketing goals, etc.
I'd also request the number of Instagram posts needed. This could range from a few to twenty or thirty.
You would use your creativity to come up with concepts.
For instance, for a new men's clothing boutique, you could propose...
A close-up shot of a man's chest. He's wearing a stylish three-piece suit. The photo is cropped, so we don't see his head or face. The overall look of the image is very "GQ." White, semi-transparent, and elegant text across the image says, "J. Sessions Menswear: The New Dapper."
(In this example, "the new dapper" is not the client's tagline. That copy is an idea to convey the shop's brand, etc.)
Not all Instagram posts are similar to ads, though. We'd also do "lifestyle" posts. These would speak to the target audience, but wouldn't be overtly promotional or "salesy."
For instance, the concept could be: an image showing a three drinking vessels in a row on a table. There's mug of coffee, a glass of water, and then a tumbler of whiskey with ice. Underneath the vessels, we see the words, "Before noon, noon, after noon."
You would share a batch of concepts with me. I may have have some revisions and further ideas for you. Also, especially in the early stages, I may say that some ideas wouldn't work for the brand in question, and I would ask for replacements.
Further, after we agree on the concepts, the work would involve writing the caption copy. Captions would range from a sentence or two to 200 or so words.
For instance, the first, "suit" example above could have the caption:
"Sessions is on a mission to bring style back – even in easy-going, casual California. We want you to maintain your own personality, of course, and we're here to help you look good doing your thing. Three-piece suits are the perfect choice for dinner dates and evenings on the town. Swing by our website to see how we can add some power and panache to your wardrobe."
(To be clear, captions on Instagram are text that accompany the image. They are just "plain text," no styling or formatting at all.)
For the second idea – the beverages – the post could be: "Drink choices of the modern gentleman. (And of course, timing is everything.)"
At the end of the day, I am looking for good, strong creative ideas and text. I also hope to find a reliable, honest person with whom to collaborate.
I am looking to develop a long-term relationship that would entail steady work. (And I hope that the work would be pretty fun and creative, too.)
