Lead developer ongoing part time to full time

Lead Developer Job Description We are currently seeking a part-time lead developer to take over our software project. This is two WordPress plugins and a full stack Django application deployed on Heroku. The developer will also support in maintaining our company website (Wordpress). This role will initially be challenging. The project was developed with inadequate documentation and the code lacks comments although it’s a standard Django app. The incoming dev will need to spend a reasonable amount of time going through everything and documenting it effectively before undertaking much additional work. Additionally, the developer will help create a road map for the code and keep a changelog and a repository in case a new developer joins the team. Once the project is fully understood the developer’s role will be to maintain the existing code and ensure the delivery of our services. After a few months this will then turn to helping us develop a roadmap for improvement and delivering that improvement. The role is initially offered on a freelance contract basis but may lead to a full-time salaried position with equity for the right candidate. The role is currently set at 40 guaranteed hours a month though additional hours may be possible depending on the demands of the business. We are a small team with a need for a developer who can hit the ground running, own the development process, communicate well with colleagues, deliver to timescales and provide ideas for improvement. The company is registered in Hong Kong, the team is based in Chiang Mai and while we’d love to find someone local, we are also happy to consider remote workers. Technologies we use: ● Django 1.11/Python 3 ● JavaScript/jQuery ● PHP - For the plugin which communicates with the Django App ● Amazon Web Services - Needs to understand containers ● Heroku ● WordPress ● Git/GitHub ● Slack ● Trello for tracking progress APIs: ● Paypal API ● Stripe ● MS Cognitive Services API We’d need the developer to be able to use all of these (or be able to learn in a short time period).
