We are a smallish bookkeeping /BI company that provides BI services to a number of small businesses in Australia. At the moment we export their information out of Xero, MYOB (accounting packages) into Excel and Access and from there we import it into Tableau for visualisation. We use an ODBC for Xero and other software for MYOB export. This system is slow and cumbersome and I believe there are faster and more effective ways of extracting and storing the data so tableau has easy access to the data. The data is only exported once a month and then visualised but I would like to create the infrastructure so that we could offer a live service. My current needs is for you to provide me with a solution on how this can best be achieved. Once we have determined the best structure I would like to implement it with your assistance and maintain it on a monthly basis. To summarise: 1. Propose the architecture / structure required to extract data from XERO/MYOB, store the data so that Tableau can have fast access to the data. 2. Implement above 3. Optimise existing Tableau dashboards 4. Maintain the system

Hi. i don't know what is the backend database of these two apps. It would be perfect if it was a MSSLQL Server. In that case i would created a report database from which the Tableau would red the reports. If this is not a MSSQL Server and if the report data are less than 10GB i would setup a MSSQL Server express edition in which i would loaded the Report Data and then i would connected the Tableau with the DB. But if the report data are more than 10GB i will write a app in VB.Net and exported the report data in CSV Files and connect the Tableau with them. One question , how does your client access the Tableau Reports ?
