I'd like to set up an hour call to go over the ins and outs of Bluetooth Tracker technology. The goal is for me to be confident in establishing what the next steps are for me to develop a product using this technology. I don't know what I don't know and I'm hoping that your expertise can help me better understand how these trackers work and how to incorporate them into my product. One of the products that I'm sure many of you has heard of is the "Tile". [login to view URL] Some questions would be: * How do these trackers work? * Can they be self-charging? (they will ideally be placed inside my product which wouldn't give my customer access to their charging port.) * I can search Alibaba for several different Bluetooth trackers... How do I know which are good? * Perhaps I can just buy a license to an already established tracker? * Some Bluetooth trackers have an ARM Cortex-M0 processor. Is this good? Bad? Something I should concern myself with? * How do I put software onto these trackers. I want to create an app for mobile that ties into my customers Bluetooth trackers so that they know if they left their product behind or if it gets away from them.. How do I do this? I'm assuming I need to hire developers to create the applications and then give that to my tracker suppliers? Please Sign The NDA below. We can discuss my qualifications in detail later, for this proposal I would like to briefly (1000 character limit) answer a few of your questions. * How do these trackers work? These trackers use Bluetooth (a form of short range wireless communication) to communicate with your phone. When you loose an item, your phone can tell the tracker (via Bluetooth) to ring aloud. Because Bluetooth is limited to 50-100 ft, it tells you the last recorded position of a tracker that is out of range. When your phone is lost, the tracker can tell the phone to ring aloud. * Can they be self-charging? Yes, but it would be better to simply integrate them with the battery/charger of your main device. * Perhaps I can just buy a license to an already established tracker? It is possible to reach out to an established tracker manufacturer and set up some sort of deal. I predict that it will be cheaper to implement the functionality in your product using common Bluetooth hardware. * Some Bluetooth trackers have an ARM Cortex-M0 processor. Is this good? Bad? Something I should concern myself with? It's like a low-power computer processor, and it is good for this application. The processor controls the tracker. Its the brains of the operation, and this one in particular is very low power. Lower power = longer battery life. I would love to discuss this project more over the phone. I have created a commercial iBeacon and understand the hardware, firmware and App sides of the issue you describe , an hours call and a few follow up emails would work perfectly for me. I explain this sort of information all the time. A few weeks ago I contributed to a proof of concept for a bluetooth emergency button which contained the same components you describe.
