Create a 3D virtual environment to test and simulate smart products

A developer is required to create a 3D virtual environment which can be navigated in first person mode by a single user. A first environment will be a virtual office space, but other spaces will be needed in the future and so the solution should demonstrate modularity to allow for the selection of the space in which the user interacts. Within the space certain objects will need to maintain state and be animated. For example, an office door will need to open and close, and the lock within the door be unlocked or locked. Users will be able to interact with specified objects. Intractable objects will display some form of visual highlight as the user looks at them in first-person view. Interaction modes will depend on the object in question. Further details will be provided. The supported object types will expose an API through which information about the information can be passed to external code libraries. Example: a door might contain a lock and the user can interact with the lock to change it from unlocked to locked and vice versa. When the user selects the lock, an API is made to indicate the identity of the selected (lock) object. The API can also discover if the lock is unlocked or not. This mechanism allows a back-end provided by others to provide simulation logic for the visualisation of the object. Code is to be written in C# using with an Asp.Net MVC framework to host a browser based environment which renders the 3D world using WebGL. Development to be performed using Visual Studio 2022. Phase 1 is to create a 3D world - an office - and demonstrate it hosting in a browser. Phase 2 is to add in animations and the interface for an API to allow for ongoing integration to simulators.
