Types of TV Wall Mounts

Low Profile Mounts

Also referred to as flush mounts or flat mounds, low profile brackets are the easiest to install compared to the others. They are quite rigid since they do not move or tilt in any direction. For this reason, they are so cheap compared to tilt mounts and swivel mounts. Most of them allow for some room (about one inch) between the wall and the TV. Accessibility to inputs and wires at the back of the TV is hampered meaning you may have to unmount it first. They are very easy to install. In fact installing one is just about as difficult as putting up a picture on a wall. If you are the kind of person who keeps on plugging and unplugging devices from the TV, perhaps you should consider installing the Swivel or Tilt Mount.

An important tip to take into account when installing a Low Profile Mount is to; make sure you have got the inclination and elevation with respect to the rest of the room right. This way you will not have to keep adjusting and re-adjusting the TV’s orientation.

Tilting Wall Mounts

As the name suggests, Tilting Wall Mounts allow room for tilting the TV. Now, this would be the ideal choice if you are looking to mount the TV higher than the eye-level. Typically, the mount will have a moveable pivot at the center-back that allows it to move in the vertical direction. This makes it easy to plug and unplug devices and cables. The vertical viewing can be enhanced greatly depending on your sitting position in the room. Your installation specialist is better suited to tell you just how far you can tilt in terms of degrees of tilt. They are a bit more expensive than Low Profile Mounts but the difference in price is made up for by the convenience delivered.

Swivel Mounts

These are more or less similar to Tilt Mounts with the only difference being that Swivel Mounts allow for movement in the horizontal direction instead of the vertical direction. 5 to 20 inches of room from the wall should therefore be allowed to create room for rotation. Most Swivel Mounts can rotate up to 60 degrees in either direction and are perfect for backroom viewing. The ideal place to install such a mount is in a multi-purpose room.

Full Motion Wall Mounts

These mounts combine the aspects of both Swivel and Tilt Mounts. They can be rotated in all directions making them the most expensive of all. They are very complicated to install requiring a couple of people working together.
